I will throw in one more option, should a downtown or large breakfast be an option. How about Loew's Vanderbilt? We can meet all the requirements originally listed above, and I believe they could handle an ever-growing event for sometime...a bit late of a suggestion for next month, but perhaps for March is other options do not pan out.

Midtown Noshville does an impressive job, considering what we task them with. I think Green Hills Noshville or Bread & Company would be crushed by this group (they're both too small), and their parking makes Midtown's look downright spacious.

Short of getting into a financial commitment by reserving Maggiano's rooms on West End (for example) for a buffet-style breakfast, I can't think of any great options for new locations.

So, we're left with increasing supply to match demand, right? I can think of two ways to do that: One is to create "waves" at Midtown Noshville -- the people who complain about 7:30am can come to an 8:30am wave, and maybe the 7:30am wave can officially move to 7:00 or 7:15am (which has sort of happened anyway). The only new expectation is that the early wave actually have to get out of their seats as the second wave starts showing up.

The other way to increase supply has already been discussed: "Regional" breakfasts. Cool Springs, Green Hills, Midtown... Keep them at Noshville to maintain consistency, and folks who miss their "home"/favorite region will feel comfortable bouncing to another one.

That highlights a special drawback to regions, which is that it could limit mingling geographically. People from downtown might never go to Cool Springs, and vice versa, and so they'd never meet.

Thanks, this is great Andrew. I think you're on the right track with the
"waves" idea. I've heard of this from several people and I'm leaning towards
it. I want to keep the breakfast in one location, so we can remain
together.

I come in from Hermitage, do breakfast, then return to Briley to work. So, I
too have to deal with the rush hour traffic. Not to mention people like
Scott and Dave who come in from Knoxville and Memphis. However, Scott now
has Geek Breakfast Knoxville up and running.

I think the waves way will be the best way. I'll follow this up once it's
decided.

I like Noshville. Unfortunately, they are just too crammed for space. This happens at a lot of restaurants. There is no suggestion that could come from me that would help this either. I do not know of a place for a meeting other than the already mentioned locations. Noshville has been very accommodating considering the amount of people we bring to their business. I only wish they had a bigger parking space and a big meeting room section.

Sorry I couldn't make it. We had our first membership breakfast for the Nashville Technology Council and unveiled a new brand campaign this week. I like the venue a lot, but it is tough to find a "good place" to sit. Not sure what is up with Crema or Portland Brew on 12th, but both have a room that you could take over for the morning and keep the long table format, which I like. Tod

Regional breakfasts make sense. Maybe the thing to do is let someone else pick up the baton for the regions and run them on different mornings from the downtown breakfast. That way, if some people want to maximize their face time with other geeks, they can get even more of it. If the Nashville Geek Breakfast meeting once per month becomes the Downtown Nashville Geek Breakfast one week, the Cool Springs Geek Breakfast the next week, and even something else and something else the other weeks, well, the reach just extended considerably, and it'd be a whole lot easier on everyone who travels far to Noshville.

Otherwise, as I mentioned on Thursday morning, I think Cafe Coco's back room could work, and I called there after breakfast but need to wait until Monday to reach the person who coordinates booking that room to get an idea of what's feasible.

The quickest option that comes to mind is Bread and Company in Green Hills, but its not centrally located. They have a scale back menu, but all the basics and I believe a range of coffee options: http://www.breadandcompany....

I like the idea of regional breakfasts. Maybe 4 to 6 people could say, hey Dave we;re having a breakfast....can you send it to the list. I feel like organizing regional breakfasts might drive Dave crazy. On the flip side--if we rotated half regional breakfasts and half regular breakfasts that might be interesting. I think Brentwood and Franklin is the largest market for regional breakfasts. Actually they have a Bread and Company in Franklin.

I voted yes only because I know the numbers will grow to the point Noshville will not be able to accommodate us. If you don't cap it or have two meetings each month, I don't see another way. I also know these are not ideal solutions.

Unfortunately, I can't think of a place where this wouldn't be an issue. Between the two aforementioned options, splitting it into two meetings seems to be the most fair.

EDIT: After more thought, what about finding a suitable space and having it catered? That may be way too cost prohibitive but there might be a point where it would make sense depending on the number. RSVPing would be more important and the food choices would need to be reduced but it's a way to keep everyone together.

Then again, perhaps it's too late for me to be thinking this hard.

Dave, what about having multiple locations? I know for me it's hard to get downtown at 7:30 am. It'd be much easier to make it to the Noshville in Green Hills or CoolSprings for me and I k ow it would be for others too. I know you want to keep everyone together, but how many people can you actually talk to (not just say hello) in an hour anyway?
