I'm really glad you posted about this and created the explanatory page. I have been interested in NGB, but this has convinced me to attend.

I agree with both desires -- friendlier space like Fido and expedient table service like Noshville. Anyone know anyplace like that?

Yay! Good work getting the attendee list to display. Still not a fan of Eventbrite, tho -- since attendees don't have accounts, they also don't have avatars or contact info. Not too conducive for networking. Are you *sure* this is better than having to setup the events each month in Facebook? How about Meetup?

Eventbrite's customer service is awesome. The bad part is that I can't show a list of attendees for repeating events. The whole purpose of using Eventbrite was to not have to re-schedule the breakfast every month. I'm looking into alternatives now.

Leave it with me to work out a way that attendees can see each other, I think it's important too.

I heard that comment you left on Mitch Joel's Six Pixels of Separation Podcast, and I was blushing. Good to know that the Social Media Breakfast was at least part of the inspiration for your Nashville Geek Breakfast.

And while most of our Boston breakfasts have some kind of an "educational component" in terms of a speaker or speakers who make short presentations, not all of the SMBs around the country and world have followed that format. Sometimes the gatherings are, indeed, roundtable discussions among all the participants. The beauty of the SMBs is that they are organized according to the needs and interests of the local communities.

I wish you continued success with your Nashville Geek Breakfasts, Dave. Maybe I can stop by one time.

Thanks. I enjoyed Fido too, but they don't have table service. This means that we spend a lot of time lining up to order our food instead of chatting. I'm not sold on it, but if the group would prefer it. Maybe a vote is in order next time. Let's stick with Noshville for August and see how we do.

We'll be sure to have all three long tables this time. Noshville have been warned that we're growing :-)

One thing I'd like to see is Fido become the new home of Geek Breakfast. I think we've outgrown Noshville and I really like having the space that Fido provides to move around and catch up with different people. I'd also hate for us to overstay our welcome at Noshville should noise and size of the group become a problem.

Just some thoughts from the new face of Geek Breakfast. :)

Great idea to start the org and wiki. I'm not really digging Eventbrite, though. Is there really no way for anyone except the event organizer(s) to see the attendees?

Hi Mashby: Thanks so much for pointing that out. I've revised Eventbrite to include the time. The Nashville Geek Breakfast always starts at 7:30 - 8:30 (ish).
