I use At & T so we will see. I finally just got a blackberry to deal with all this tech madness. I can't believe I was suckered into turning over to the dark side. Waah! I hope I don't walk into light posts and man holes. *sigh*

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

If you'd like, you can shut text messaging off (at least with Verizon).

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

Oh LAWD..don't get me started on that. You know I don't own an iPhone nor a blackberry. When I am AWAY from my COMPUTER I don't want to be bothered.

I want to act like I don't have to have a nervous twitch every time my phone may buzz for email. However, although I have a FIRST model Razor phone, I swear I had to sign up for the text message package because sooo many people text me and I was getting charged for stuff I did not want.

I asked them, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME TEXT MESSAGES. I don't have a keypad like a blackberry and I am not going to respond.

NONE of my "friends" LISTENED to my plea and they continued to send me texts and FORWARDS to this day.

Should I charge them the monthly fee for this junk they send me? Then, with Barack Obama, he was about to BLOW UP my cell phone with stuff but then I realized I accidentally signed up for all this junk to be sent to my phone so I unsubscribed from all those lists.

I swear it's hard managing all this junk in the 21st century. **sighing** and **eye balls rolling!**

Thanks, Dave, for you are one of the few who understands this. I swear I want to be FREE from the distractions when I leave my little home office or office.

May I walk down the street and not see someone walk into poles and into pot holes because they are texting? I don't want to look like that fool! : /

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

I agree agree agree with everything that you said, Dave. I cannot take the generic one line "thanks for the following" in either an @reply or even a DM.

When you see that multiple times for a reply in one day especially when someone is not at their computer and that is all that you see in their twitter stream, it drives ME bonkers because I am on my computer literally all day and I see that robotic, non creative message all the time.

Whenever someone wants to add me and I see that, I feel bad but I decline but I have to do it for my own sanity. You know what is even worse? When people say, Hi @ _______ and it is about 10 names? I am like Lawd please NO!

For example, isn't this sort of funny?

http://twitter.com/bjork

I understand trying to connect but my goodness! : /

Thanks for sharing!

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

Funny, yes. Great comment! We haven't even factored in the TXT msg
costs from auto direct mail replies.

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

Yes, I agree. A personal message is fine. The auto replies drive me
nuts. Good point about the text messages too.

Cheers,
Dave / www.davemadethat.com

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

I think the DM are for saying something personal to the other person, or something that can't be said on the public stream. If it was a @ reply with the autoresponders, I don't think it would be that annoying.... DM often get delivered to mobiles and emaill... that's unnecesary spam times 3. For me, it's annoying but if it were @replies I could live with it.

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

Eden, I know what you mean. It could really turn into something terrible if
it was misused. Luckily in this case, it's just amusing pony and unicorn
enthusiasts. :-)

Find me online: www.davemadethat.com
LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/davedelaney
Blog: blog.davemadethat.com
Twitter: www.twitter.com/davedelaney

Re: Hi, thanks for following me on Twitter…

I know this sounds strange but I've never received one of those messages. I hear about them all the time. I'd probably find them annoying most of the time.
