Much appreciated! Sorry about your hard drive woes.

Catch ya soon.
D

Re: Your technical support is much appreciated – please help

Thanks so much Alex. I'm sure Ross will really appreciate your two cents.

Cheers
Dave

Re: Your technical support is much appreciated – please help

A similar thing *just* happened to me. I took my external drive to an independent IT guy in Nashville for recovery but luckily my drive mounted fine for him. I immediately went out and bought a new drive for him to copy the contents onto.

Your mileage may vary, but I would try the drive on another machine, but be ready to copy everything asap.

Best of luck! I know the emotional drain this causes.

Re: Your technical support is much appreciated – please help

I have used the OnTrack Recovery tools in the past and they've worked miracles.
http://www.ontrackdatarecov...

One thing that I think they will let you do is create a boot CD. Then, you boot up your machine with their CD in and it has special software to access the hardware directly. This keeps Windows out of the way and allows for smoother recovery. Newer versions may be different though.
